The ESPA Innovation Awards reflect ESPA’s goal of “promoting the exchange of experience, best practices and know-how” and recognizing the best and most innovative ideas and services in the spa industry.
After the “storm” of the last 18 months, the pandemic situation and the isolation clearly showed the importance of a good state of health and prevention through all generations and promoting treatments with natural remedies, taking advantage of balneology, spa medicine.
As European Spas Association has launched the Innovation Awards for destinations, facilities or initiatives in the Spas sector, that represent “well-being”, “innovation” and “excellence” in their inner essence, in 2021 it’s more transforming to give voice and a prize to those talents and partners, who developed new, outstanding and more effective approaches to contribute to improving the quality of lifestyle, health in the spas hotels, in medical spas and in health resorts.
The winners of the ESPA Innovation Awards 2021 came from 12 European countries and were announced and celebrated during the ESPA Annual Congress Gala, in Terme 3000 in Moravske Toplice, Slovenia.
We were very happy to welcome more than twenty nationalities of spa experts and many hosted buyers of the SPA-CE B2B workshop to the AWARDS GALA event and to celebrate the excellence on the European level LIVE and to congratulate personally to the winners. This exchange of know-how and recognition gives the energy to strive and to supplement, optimize other new and proven processes in our medical spas and health resorts. MECKLENBURG_Vorpommern Spa Association – Germany
Healing forest in North Germany is a pioneer project in Europe, with very high-quality standards. The Forest is like the “green pharmacy” and designed with special infrastructure for prevention & rehabilitation. The positive result is followed by medical research and newly a special healing forest pathway for Kids was opened, also because they point out the topic of health of the young generation, which need more attention.
Just set on the coastline of the Baltic sea, it represents the perfect destination in a very traditional health resort in the combination of nature. This curative powerful programme was evolved by the contribution of private clinics, public health and university.

Terme & Wellness LifeClass Portorož, in cooperation with the University of Primorska, is announcing three revolutionary content sets of innovations in thalassotherapy to enhance experiences & products with higher added value for the demanding guests.
Almost all thermal destinations are in the eastern part of the country and 2 thermal springs are located in the west part of Slovenia, in Portorož & Strunjan.

SMARTWELL – Croatia
A student innovation programme, for merging the technology with a better well-being lifestyle, thanks to a one-stop useable App, helping the digitalization process.
It is aimed to share a smart tool so to:
1) increase wellness providers’ capabilities to develop competitive well-being programmes
2) help wellness users so to encourage informed decisions about the wellness programmes, calibrated on their needs.
C8 MEDICAL SPA – SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
ENSANA HEALTH SPA HOTELS – Czech Rep., Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Uk.
The subject of the research program is respiratory rehabilitation, for post-corona patients with pneumonia. 100 customers were included for 3 weeks, with 21 medical interventions per week, comprehensive spa stays with all the benefits of balneology.
The program has been scientifically tested and published in the medical journal by the Group Medical Director, Dr Md. Boris Banòvski and shows significantly increased lung vitality with an improved quality of life.
This research is important evidence and makes an efficient step for Balneology towards the recognition of medical spas by clients and also by health authorities.
