Brands of sex stimulant drugs seized -NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, seized various brands of unregistered aphrodisiacs (sex stimulant drugs) used by men from patent medicine shops, the Unit Head, NAFDAC Benin office, David West, said on Tuesday. Mr. West said 16 offenders involved in the sales of the unwholesome products in the last four months were also sanctioned.

Vitamin D Boosts Quality of Life in Crohn's

Patients in remission with Crohn's disease who took vitamin D supplements had clinically meaningful improvements in quality of life, a researcher reported here. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, patients receiving the supplements whose blood levels of 25-dihydroxyvitamin D were at or above 30 ng/mL had mean scores on the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire of 187.3, compared with mean scores of 163.2 among those not taking the supplements and whose blood levels remained below that cutoff (P<0.0001), said Tara Raftery, MD, of the University of Dublin in Ireland.

Coronavirus may be passed person to person- WHO

The World Health Organization says it appears likely that the novel coronavirus (NCoV) can be passed between people in close contact.This comes after the French health ministry confirmed a second man had contracted the virus in a possible case of human-to-human transmission.Two more people in Saudi Arabia are also reported to have died from the virus, according to health officials.NCoV is known to cause pneumonia and sometimes kidney failure.
